Golden Sheaf Nomination for Echoes in Steel
Echoes in Steel was nominated for best short documentary at the Yorkton Film Festival, and I had the pleasure of attending the festival to experience the festivities first-hand. Here is proof: a picture of me enjoying the first industry panel, having just stupidly bought a coffee downstairs before realizing the festival had provided coffee for us.
I loved the upbeat atmosphere of the festival with the creative elements of the programming like the pitch-o-rama, which uses the wheel you can see in the background. And also just the dedication of the festival staff to make the experience special for filmmakers. See my photo from the skeetshooting excursion at Lobsterfest.
Although Echoes in Steel didn’t win the award, it was an absolute honour to be nominated, and be in the same room with so many greats of the Canadian film industry. I made some great new friends, learned a lot and was greatly inspired, and although I don’t have any photo evidence, I had an amazing screening and Q&A with Daniel Cross from Eye Steel Film.
Can’t wait to submit my next films to Yorkton.
