Commercial Work for Destination Northern Ontario
We had the absolute please of collaborating with North Country Media House and Mitch Bowmile on this campaign for Destination Northern Ontario. What a treat to explore the area and help share the feeling that captivates so many of us with such a special region of the world.
Who knows more about Northern Ontario than the people that live there?
Destination Northern Ontario wanted a short commercial that emphasized the benefits of living and working in the tourism industry in Ontario’s North. To us, the solution was simple. We needed to hear from people passionate about the North who truly lived the experience. We wanted audiences to hear that passion and connect to it through stunning visuals that matched. We got to work finding the right people, hearing their passions and made a plan to translate those passions into film. Our final goal? Understand and present why our subjects were passionate about Northern Ontario. The result? It’s the land, it’s the water, it’s home.

There’s an almost indescribable feeling of ancient slowness in Northern Ontario. It’s the rugged landscapes, the pristine wilderness and the people. We wanted audiences to FEEL Northern Ontario. We wanted them to feel the calm of each paddle stroke on a lake or river, the rush of flying down a winding trail, the connection when you cast a line on a misty fall morning and the feeling of calm that overtakes you when you exhale and breath it all in.
We created a concept based on the idea that when you live and work in the North, you have the ability to prioritize these moments we all seek out. We chose slow shots with fast cuts that allow audiences to immerse themselves into a world and then transition into the next. Our sound design put audiences in our locations. The emotions on our characters faces made them imagine they were there.
