Introducing myself
(Pictured: My wife Katharine Viscardis and myself, at the Reframe premiere of Kirby’s House in 2024)
Hello! I’m Rob Viscardis, the filmmaker behind Outsideinside. I just quietly published this brand and website a little while ago. While I have been involved with several companies over my career, launching Outsideinside in this way feels really special to me. I am feeling very grateful and optimistic about this new chapter in my career.
I am in the process of releasing some exciting new projects that truly embody the vision and mission of what Outsideinside is about for me – to make films that utilize the craft of film and storytelling to help raise awareness of social and environmental issues.
After leaving the previous company I was with, I have spent the last eight months in a modest office/edit suite, working diligently to breathe life into several important projects. These include a feature documentary set to premiere at Hot Docs and a three-part documentary mini-series that will feature its own dedicated website and impact campaign.
Moreover, I am actively developing several other documentary projects and continuing to handle various client work. While I will continue to embrace working in many different roles and genres, Outsideinside will specifically highlight documentaries. Moving forward, I am eager to engage in more collaborative projects and continue to grow the community of people I work with, and the stories I tell.
I have been hesitant to do it and really put it out there, but launching Outsideinside as a distinct brand (and actually promoting it) feels right at this moment. It is my hope that a focused brand will create more opportunities for future projects, and with a cohesive portfolio, enhance the reach and impact of the stories themselves.
It also feels important for me to be real about what it actually is right now. I don’t want anyone to think this is some big company with loads of employees when it isn’t. And I don’t want it to appear like I’m trying to make it look that way. But maybe one day this will grow into something bigger…
Stay tuned for more updates and insights right here on this blog and mailing list. Your support and interest mean the world to me as I continue to grow and evolve as a filmmaker.
