Rooted in Peterborough, Not Just Working Here
I grew up in Peterborough. I still live here, I’m raising a family here, and I’ve spent decades working with local causes and organizations through film — sponsoring the Reframe Film Festival every year, coaching kids’ soccer, volunteering at my kids’ school. This isn’t a satellite market for me. It’s home.
That matters, because when you search for a production company in Peterborough, you might find results that never mention who’s actually running that company, or where they’re actually based. I’m Rob Viscardis, and Outsideinside is a documentary and video production company rooted in Peterborough and the Kawarthas.
My work takes me across the Kawarthas, into Toronto and Ottawa, and across Canada — for nonprofits, museums, unions, universities, government agencies, and brands with a story worth telling. I collaborate with incredible filmmakers, companies and artists locally and internationally. I don’t chase trends, but I keep an eye one them. I care about the story first, and the product serves it.
As an example, that approach is why the producer of No More Silent Battles, a film I edited earlier this year, is making huge gains in its advocacy campaign. It’s not just a nice-to-have video, but a working tool for the cause. It’s one of several projects with unions, nonprofits, and advocacy groups, where the job was to turn a cause into a story people actually watch to the end, that makes them feel heard, or want to get involved.
It’s also why museums and universities keep coming back: documentary work for the Canadian Agricultural Museum and Canadian Geographic (on Manoomin/wild rice harvesting), and for Trent University and Trent Magazine — projects that needed to be accurate, respectful of the subject, and still genuinely watchable.
